Jason Dinkler

Jason Dinkler: Jason was born and raised in Ventura and attended Ventura Unified Schools. A Ventura High graduate and athlete, Jason matriculated to Cal State University, Northridge where he earned his BA in English and his Master’s in Educational Leadership. Coach Dinkler has been at Foothill Technology since 2002, teaching tenth and twelfth grade English as well as the Senior AVID course. He brings an extensive cross-training background to the program, having competed in swimming and water polo in high school and college and then moving on to marathons and triathlons after graduation. He continues to stay active in the running community by racing throughout Southern California.  He also is the head track and field team for the Dragons, having led FTHS crew to top 10 finishes in CIF SS competition.  Jason resides in Ventura with his wife, Laurel and his two children, Quinn and Cole.

Charlie Feyh

Charlie Feyh:  Charlie is a longtime youth basketball coach, with 26 years of experience coaching teams with the Ventura Youth Basketball Association, 22 years with Ventura Nets and three years with Ventura Force. He was a founding member of Ventura Breakers Youth Basketball Club. He has coached cross country for Ventura Zephyrs and Ventura Tigres and was a coach and president of the Ventura Girls Track Club. He has run 41 marathons and eight ultra-marathons.  Along with his coaching responsibilities, Charlie will be in charge of meet management and cross country technology.

Seychelle Kauffman

Seychelle Kauffman:  A graduate of Foothill Technology, Seychelle ran for the Ventura Cougars in both cross-country and track and field.  She was also a member of the outstanding Chico State program.  Currently a nursing student at Chico State, Seychelle assists with the Dragon summer program.  She brings a wealth of cross training knowledge to the FTHS program before returning to Chico in the fall.

Jim Ortiz

Jim Ortiz:  Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the FTHS program.  In high school, he ran under legendary coach, Don Braden at Barstow High School.  While at Barstow, the Aztecs won 3 CIF SS CC titles and in 1983, the Aztecs were ranked #1 in California and #5 in the United States.  Jim won 2 individual CIF SS cross-country titles and 2 CIF SS 3200 meter championships.  He was also a Kinney (now Footlocker) National Finalists and placed in both the 1600 and the 3200 at the California State Track and Field meet.  Moving on to UCLA to run under another coaching legend, Bob Larsen, Jim was a member of an NCAA Championship Track and Field team and was part of the Bruins’ dual meet national champions.  After graduating from UCLA, Jim continued his running career under another coaching legend, Joe Douglas of the Santa Monica Track Club.

As a coach, Jim brings tremendous experience to the table.  Coming from a family of coaches, with both his father and brother being fixtures in the Barstow area coaching community.  He has been the head coach at numerous schools including his alma mater, Barstow High School.  Under his guidance, numerous athletes have qualified for state in both cross-country and track and field.  In addition to being a youth and high school coach, Coach Ortiz has also coached USA teams through the Down Under Sports program in Australia.

Coach Ortiz resides in Ventura with his wife and two daughters.
